Computers in IT-supported classrooms and labs are equipped with software utilized in LIU courses, alleviating the need for students to purchase their own copies or bring their own computers to LIU campuses.

All Information Technology Computer Labs are equipped with projectors, teacher stations, SmartBoards or interactive whiteboards, and a variety of software to enhance your instructional experience. Microsoft Office Suite of software, SPSS and the expected array of browsers and productivity tools are also standardized for instructional labs. Inquire about the educational technologies available by contacting your local IT offices. Workshops are available to faculty and administrators for using these and other technology tools in your classroom.

Course Management and Collaboration

Many instructors post class notes, syllabi, and other resources in class pages in local ITRC (Informaion Technology Resource Center). Every LIU course is automatically set up in Blackboard, but the Blackboard course site must be first be activated by the instructor before students can access the site. When students or instructors log into Blackboard with your LIU NetID and password, each of your courses (which have been activated in Blackboard) will automatically appear as a tab in the top navigation bar in your workspace. Contact your campus Information Technology Resource Center for assistance with Blackboard issues.

To secure a computer lab for your course, please contact the Office of the Registrar at your campus.
