Dear Faculty Colleague,
As a reminder of our previous service announcement, during Spring Break, LIU’s Blackboard (Bb) Learn environment will be unavailable starting Monday, March 13th through Tuesday, March 14th, 2017, for major system updates to be performed.
You may experience some intermittent service issues while the system recovers and syncs up with all Bb third party services on Wednesday, March 15th.
Blackboard Technical Support strongly recommended that we take this course of action during our next available downtime in order to minimize, if not eliminate, any glitches that the current system is manifesting.
Although there are no significant user interface changes, you may see a few design updates.
Additionally, some of the behind the scene improvements for this upgraded release (Blackboard Learn 9.1 Q4 2016) are:
- Technology infrastructure improvement to improve performance and security
- Improved experience for mobile users and updating the look-and-feel of the environment
- Improvements to save time and effort including file drag-and-drop in key workflows
- Assessment enhancements in the core teaching and learning tools
- Reporting improvements
IT is committed to optimizing all university systems and we appreciate your patience during this essential upgrade.
As always, please contact LIU IT helpdesk, if you have any questions or need assistance.
